Back in action
Thanks to Jordan and one of the technicians I never laid eyes on at Advance Camera Repair in Beaverton, I am now back to blogging. To celebrate, though, I decided to blog a project finished long ago, with photos long uploaded to Flickr. Just too lazy to download and upload right now.
Someone left a comment on my Flickr account, and reminded me about these guys. I made them about a year ago, I suppose, for friends who had a baby.
Specs:
Pattern: "Suede" Booties
Yarn: As specified, except I only used the lighter color.
Needles: Denise Interchangeables, but I can't remember what size. Probably as specified.
This was a really fun pattern to knit. And it looked really cute, probably cuter than real Uggs.If anyone is thinking about making it, let me know, and I'll send you the Berroco Suede I have left. It's not a lot, but it might save you one ball. When I made this pattern, the owner of then-LYS was super nice to me, and wound me off part of a ball of the Plush that she had only used part of, so I wouldn't have to buy a whole ball just for the trim. I mention this because this particular LYS-owner gets a lot of flack in the area for being rude sometimes. Yes, she's a little intimidating at first, and certainly opinionated, but if you stick with it she definitely warms up to you. AND she supports the local feminist clinic by sponsoring their events as an advertiser.
In other news, the first month of my residency went pretty well. I feel like I've learned so much in the last month, but it's not even a drop in the bucket of what I'll learn in the next four years. So far I'm really happy with my program and the people and place. I'm so so so thrilled to be in Portland. I'll post pics of the kick-ass view from my miniature deck sometime soon. I can usually see Mts. Hood, St. Helen's, and sometimes Ranier, but today it's a bit cloudy (and only 65 degrees to those of you in the sweltering Midwest!). My favorite brother and favorite sister-in-law (the infamous Mrs. O) came out to visit last week and it was hella fun.
I'm on vacation this week since my favorite sister is getting married (again) to my favorite brother-in-law (long story). I'm sticking around PDX until Wednesday. I hope to buy some furniture in the meantime. So far, I've only got a few deck chairs (shrewdly purchased with the help of Mrs. and Mr. O.). Then I'm heading back to IA on Wednesday.
Tonight it's the Oregon Brewers' Festival in Portland. I'll see you on the other side.
p.s. Good luck moving Megan. It is so, so, so painful.
p.p.s. You, too, Michelle. Anutha knitta moves to PDX!

Hey! Thanks for commenting on my blog! I'm moving on Monday. That's tomorrow! Though we're not actually hitting the road until Tuesday, and we're making a bunch of stops, so we'll probably arrive sometime between the 1st and 2nd weeks of August perhaps? Can't wait to meet you...
Welcome to the Northwest! It's good to see you back blogging, and to see that residency isn't taking up ALL your time!
