Long lost wristlet
I finally found the pics for this wristlet purse that I knit and felted in one day about 9 months ago. Geta (Mr. and Mrs. O's Brittany) gave me some lovely yarn for Christmas: 2 balls of Debbie Bliss Soho. I loved the colors and the feel of this yarn, and I was itching to felt with it. So I cast on the next day, just made up a simple pattern, and felted the bag and sewed in a zipper all in about 3 hours. You can get some efficient knitting done when Mrs. O is on hand with lots of episodes of Little House on the Prairie!

Thanks for the Christmas present Geta!

Pattern: I wanted to knit a triangle shaped wristlet, top down so I could just knit until I ran out of yarn. I think I started with 58 stitches, and placed a marker at the beginning, and halfway (knitting in the round). I knit for six rows, then increased before and after each marker on every other round. When I got to the end of the first ball of yarn, I picked up six stitches at one of the corners at the top, then knit a six stitch i-cord, probably about 12 inches long, and sewed it to the opposing edge of the same corner to make a wrislet loop. I used the rest of that ball to finish the bottom of the bag. When I got to the end of the ball, I closed the botton with a three-needle bing-off. I then used some blue wool that Mrs. O had in her stash to crochet a flower, based on this pattern. Thank goodness it felted nicely, because I am such a bad crocheter, it looked like total ass before felting. Then I bought a basic zipper, and just stitched it in quickly by hand. It has held up really well.
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Soho, 2 balls. I think it's color 07.
Needles: I think 10 1/2 bamboo circs.
Thoughts: The yarn was luscious. It was fun coming up with a (very easy and basic) pattern on my own. It turned out exactly how I envisioned it. This is easily one of my most used knitted objects. It is the perfect size, and so easy to carry around with it slung over my wrist. It's great for my wallet, keys, camera, and some lip stuff. I get compliments on this bag every time I use it, even from non-knitting men. People often ask me where I bought it. Success!
Thanks Geta!
